Who We Are

The church of Christ in Englewood is composed of a body of believers once alienated by sin, but now saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.

We are simply called Christians (Acts 11:26). To hyphenate this noble name would be to dishonor it. We will not mix our loyalty of our Lord and Savior with the name of any human name such as Joseph Smith, Ellen G. White, Charles Russell, John Calvin, John Wesley, etc.

We state with full assurance that we are not a denomination. The church of Christ did not come from any existing religious body. The church of Christ was prophesied by the prophets Isaiah (Isa.2:1-5) and Daniel (Dan.2:44), and the fulfillment of those prophesies are found in Acts 2:1-47, Romans 16:16, and Colossians 1:13.

Thus, we believe that we are the church that you can read of from the pages of the Bible.

The members of the Englewood Church of Christ are recognized as Christians only (Acts 11:26).
It is simply our aim to be a New Testament church belonging to the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:18; Romans 16:16).

What We Do

We are determined to follow the New Testament pattern for the organization, work and worship of the church. We want to be able to show "book, chapter, and verse" for all of our practices. (1st Peter 4:11).

Our mission is simple. Since the Lord's church is the "pillar and ground of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15), our purpose is to promote the teachings of Christ and to give our greatest effort to live by those teachings (John 1:14; 14:6; 2 John 9).

Many religious groups have shifted their focus from spiritual teaching to social and recreational activities. This shift in emphasis has resulted in a neglect of man's most important need, i.e., preparing the soul to meet its Maker (Mark 8:36-37). Christians are commanded, "whatever you do in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus" (Colossians 3:17); this means that our teaching and practice must be authorized by the New Testament. We, at Englewood, strive to meet this divine requirement both in our lives and in our work together as a congregation.
